Listed by National Geographic as one of the world's 100 most beautiful places, Cannon Beach is known for the iconic Haystack Rock, a 235 ft sea stack that sits just off shore. A cannon from the US Navy schooner "Shark" washed ashore in 1848, prompting the renaming of this beautiful shoreline town from its previous moniker, "Elk Creek."
