Glacier National Park
This stretch of northwestern Montana wilderness is known for its glacier-carved mountains and valleys, pristine hidden lakes and undisturbed wildlife. The namesake of the park is also an unfortunate reminder of the effects of climate change. Of the 150 active glaciers in the park from the mid 1800's, fewer than 25 active glaciers remain today and scientists estimate that they may all disappear by 2030 without drastic climate preservation measures.
The design features a digitally-altered photograph with an impressionist / oil painted style. The background has a subtle topographic base pattern. The state outline is created with a series of high resolution digital brushstrokes and drips.
